Seeking to promote tourism and gastronomic offerings, the union of hoteliers and restaurateurs creates strategies to publicize seafood-based dishes by bringing in well-known chefs.
The Yucatecan chef Geny Falla Alcocer, also known as “Mamá Geny”, participated in the Master Chef México TV program, and she is one of the special guests.
Dishes such as “Mayan toast, shrimp panuchos, dogfish empanadas with queso de bola,” among others, were part of the menu presented on Thursday, March 21, around 2 in the afternoon at a meeting between service providers.
Elena Conde, president of the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurants of Río Lagartos, explains that the port is recognized for the tours offered to see the flamingos, however, they want to attract the market segment in search of the eastern coast of Yucatan gastronomy.
“We also want them to return to see Río Lagartos for the delicious and wonderful food prepared by our local chefs,” he said.
“In every hotel and restaurant there are people with extensive experience in cooking and we must take advantage of that potential to position ourselves,” he said.
Elena Conde said that the invitation from “Mamá Geny” is the first of several that will be held month after month in the different establishments of the members to encourage the economy and support each other.
In the food tasting at the “Deja Vu” restaurant, the “Master Chef” “Mamá Geny”, explained the process for preparing each dish and offered the diners the stews. On the other hand, the Association President Elena Conde, said that they are already looking forward to this holiday season, and the service providers are prepared to receive local, national, and foreign visitors.
