El Cuyo, Yucatán, March 4, 2023.- El Cuyo has everything to earn the designation of Pueblo Mágico, as expressed by the mayor of the municipality of Tizimín, Pedro Couoh Suaste, who affirmed that it is the best beach in Yucatán.
“It is undoubtedly the best beach in Yucatan, it is the closest to the Mexican Caribbean, which gives another tone to the water and sand, with the advantage that there we do not have sargassum, the others go more to the Gulf of Mexico which is another type of beach”.
He added that another characteristic of El Cuyo are its sandy streets and that it is the only port in Yucatan that has respected 100 percent of the coastal dune, and that gives a special touch to the beaches of the port, “there are many aspects for which we consider it qualifies perfectly for the denomination of Pueblo Magico”, he said.
In this same line, he informed that as a city council they have been working to make the necessary improvements in the port, such as the recertification of the Platino beach, the widening of the beach, the installation of an ATM, as well as improving the communication and internet issues.
“We are looking to solve the problems in the port of Cuyo, such as electricity that shows some failures, drinking water and internet, a week ago fiber optics arrived to Cuyo and with this communication and internet problems are solved, the ATM was a long felt request, and we already put it,” he said.
Finally, he emphasized that they are expanding the hotel offer because they are building 10 boutique hotels, which will have more capacity to receive tourists.
“Although they are small hotels, there are 10 and it means that we will have more beds for the tourists who go to El Cuyo, besides, many services have been improved, there are international food restaurants, the gastronomic offer has improved and has expanded a lot”, he concluded.
