VALLADOLID, YUCATAN – In order to speed up the traffic on several streets of this city, the City Council intends to open two alternate routes so that there is no need to circulate on the arteries that go to the Center.
These projects are under the study of viability since the donation of some land through which the road would pass has to be determined.
During rush hours and on weekends, several streets in the city become a traffic chaos, especially the main arteries: 39, 40, 41 and 42 leading to downtown.
In one of the morning conferences he holds every Friday, Valladolid Mayor Alfredo Fernandez Arceo informed that the circulation of automobiles has increased considerably in this city, due to the federal project of the Mayan Train.
Given this situation, the mayor recalled that during a visit he made to the Popolá community he spoke with the ejidatarios, who told him that they are willing to donate an area of their ejido which is located on the side of Zaci Hual Avenue and passes just behind the substation to the north of the city, that is, coming from Tizimín.
Then a street would be built in the gap of 44th Street and 46th Street, along the old road of that community, so that those who come from Tizimín and do not want to drive to the center of Valladolid could circulate on that road and arrive on the side of the Flamboyanes subdivision to easily go to the Bacalar neighborhood.
Another street that could be opened is next to the former train station.
In this case, the rails would be removed and that side would be ready to build a road leading to the San Vicente neighborhood and, therefore, to the Sisal neighborhood.
At the end of the rails, it will immediately connect with a street that has already been built. With the opening of these two arteries, the aim is to speed up vehicular traffic because all those who enter through these two points have to circulate in the Center.
This turns the streets into a congestion point at certain times of the day, especially on weekends.
There is also traffic chaos when there is an event in the city center, so with these roads to be built, traffic would improve.
