From April 1 to August 31, fumigation tasks will be carried out in Mérida.

With the purpose of reinforcing actions to combat dengue and health care, the City Council will carry out fumigation days in the four cardinal points of the city from April 1 to August 31, reported Mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro.

“Given the proximity of the beginning of the rainy season, which implies a greater proliferation of mosquitoes, the City Council will work in coordination with the Ministry of Health to attend to the neighborhoods and subdivisions of the city in the fight against dengue,” he said.

He highlighted that, for this reason, the municipal government will have eight new fogging vehicles that will be added to the existing five to provide greater fumigation coverage.

He pointed out that the crews of the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare will work in the neighborhoods and subdivisions in which the Ministry of Health needs to reinforce its fumigation actions.

He mentioned that the crews will work from 6:00 to 10:00 at night, so citizens are invited to open their doors and windows so that the nebulizer liquid can take effect.

Likewise, he announced that, in this first quarter of the year, the City Council has fumigated the 47 police stations, starting the second round of attention in recent days.

With these actions, he added, what is sought is to provide attention to the 47 police stations of Mérida at least twice a month in regards to fumigation.
