Chief Commissioner Ramón Guardado Sánchez, the state coordinator of the National Guard in Yucatán, stated that in the case of the State, it is not necessary to incorporate more elements of this civilian command, since the municipal and state police have done an excellent job to maintain security.

The federal official highlighted that one of the keys to maintaining high levels of security perception among Yucatecans has been the coordination carried out by the three levels of government in the State, work that allows the National Guard to maintain a low number of elements on the streets, which is about 1,400 elements.

“Given the security situation, the coordination that exists with the different police corporations, the level of training that the state and municipal police have, there is no need to increase the number of elements (of the National Guard) in the State,” he assured.
