The third Presidential Debate will take place on Tuesday, June 12, in the city of Mérida, Yucatán at 9:00 pm. This event could influence the voters’ decision in a radical way during the upcoming July 1 election.
The presidential involves the 4 candidates for the presidency:
- José Antonio Meade for the ‘Todos por México‘ coalition , integrated by PRI, Partido Verde Ecologista and Panal.
- Ricardo Anaya for the ‘Por México al Frente‘ coalition formed by PAN, PRD and MC
- Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the ‘Juntos Haremos Historia‘, coalition integrated by Morena, PES and PT.
- Independent candidate Jaime Rodríguez (a) El Bronco.
The debate will take place at the Great Museum of the Mayan World, located at Calle 60 #299 E, Cordemex in Mérida.
The INE Commission, in charge of coordinating the debates previous to the Presidential election, presided over by councilor Benito Nacif Hernández, announced the topics and subtopics for this last exercise of confrontation of ideas and proposals, that were chosen as the candidates have practically not spoken about them:
1. Economic growth, poverty and inequality
2. Education, science and technology
3. Sustainable development and climate change
The moderators for this third debate are the journalists Calos Puig Soberón, Leonardo Curzio and Gabriela Warkentin.
The role of the moderators will be active and they will seek to encourage dialogue between the candidates and their intervention can be used to make the debate more dynamic.
This exercise seeks to ensure the involvement of citizens, as the INE made a public call to send their questions through social networks.
Facebook and Google will prepare specific reports on search trends and comments madee by users online, in relation with the topics of the debate, which will serve as a basis for moderation.
