The Secretariat of Culture and Arts of Yucatan (Sedeculta) presented the digital catalog In Situ, considered a new tool to promote the work of local creators, which has information on 243 spaces and is available on the page of the Network of Cultural Agents of Yucatán (Reacy).

The document was presented at the Center for Visual Arts (CAV) before the head of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts (Sedeculta), Loreto Villanueva Trujillo, by the director of Artistic Development and Cultural Management of the agency, Ana Ceballos Novelo, the head of Visual Arts, Rosa Arteaga Silva; and the coordinator of Visual Arts of the Yucatán University of the Arts, Leticia Fernández.

Ceballos Novelo pointed out that the compendium “is a mapping proposal since there was a need in the field and the visual arts sector to know who we are, to make ourselves visible and in some way to have a document that would serve to share the work and directions of the artists.”

Arteaga Silva highlighted that In Situ differs from other catalogs because, in addition to containing their data, the creators were given a voice so that they described their work, sharing images in their workspaces that reflect their personality.

The catalog is an inventory of active spaces that contribute to bringing together and disseminating the work of artists and their work sites, as well as galleries, with the public and producers; and generate linear and direct communication with possible obstacles.

Through its two volumes you can learn information about each place, the compendium is an editorial work that has copyright and ISBN registration. In addition, it is a useful resource to show the world what Yucatecan and resident artists generate, both in the capital of Merida and in the municipalities of the entity, illustrating the work and the creation and exhibition spaces. The work was coordinated by Francisco Pechán and is available for consultation and download at https://redcultural.yucatan.gob.mx/catalogos.
