Maya Ball Game returns to the Plaza Grande

The performance of the Mayan ball game “Pok Ta Pok” will take its place on the cultural agenda in the Plaza Grande on Saturdays, as one of the attractions that keeps traditions alive.

As part of the activities of the Meridana Week offered by the City Council of Merida, the performance of the traditional Mayan sport will now be offered at the doors of the Municipal Palace of Merida, after the activity was held for several months in the San Sebastian park due to the works carried out in the Plaza Grande.

What time will the Ball Game take place?
The performance will begin at 8 pm, lasts one hour, and is in charge of members of the Noh Balam group “El Gran Jaguar”, a member of the Association of Indigenous and Traditional Games and Sports of Yucatan.

Also the show “Diálogos del Conquistador” returns next Wednesday, October 16 with its projections on the facade of the Casa Montejo Museum, starting at 8:30 p.m.

The rest of the activities of the municipal program will continue in their current venues this weekend. This Friday the video mapping “Isla de Luz” will be projected at the Monumento a la Patria and on Saturday the “Noche Mexicana” at the end of Paseo de Montejo, both will begin at 8 pm. The following day “Mérida en Domingo” will begin with its artisan and gastronomic offering starting at 8 am and artistic talent starting at 11 am and until 8 pm in the Plaza Grande.
