Rain and thunderstorm potential will increase for now.

MÉRIDA, Yucatán.- The extensive anticyclone that has covered the Yucatan region for several days now, will finally begin to move gradually starting this weekend.

This will finally allow for the arrival of cold fronts and storm systems that will usher in winter, which officially begins on December 21.

Meanwhile, the potential for rain and thunderstorms in the region will increase for now. Also for now, hot temperatures and high thermal sensations are expected to remain.

A new cold front is expected to arrive to the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week. The front would be advancing along with a low pressure and would reach the Yucatan Peninsula no later than midday on Tuesday 21.

Minimum temperatures from the middle of next week will be between 10 and 15 degrees in the center and south of Yucatan, and around 15 in the rest of the Peninsula.
