Lance Black, winner of the 2008 Oscar for the movie Milk, visited Yucatan, and when he learned about the political situation that the homosexual local community is going through, he sent a message, loud and clear.Oscar winner, director and screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, who is on vacation in Yucatan with his husband Tom Daley, sent a political message in favor of the gay community that has generated different reactions, especially among activists and Yucatecan gay people.

“To act as if LGBT families do not exist, is to pretend that the sky is not blue,” said the filmmaker in a story that went up on his Instagram account, a message in which he appears during his visit to the Cathedral of Valladolid, Yucatán.

It is noteworthy that Lance Black is an activist in favor of the rights of the LGBTQ community and often uses his social networks to express his position on the issue, as he did for Yucatan, where equal marriage has been rejected twice by the local Congress.

Before publishing the aforementioned story, Yucatecan activists welcomed Lance and his husband to the state through Twitter and contextualized that local authorities do not recognize the rights of homosexual families.

As a scriptwriter, Lance won the Oscar in 2008 for the movie Milk, which starred Sean Penn and Diego Luna.

And he has been married for some years with Olympic diver Tom Daley, with whom he came to Yucatan on vacation, and where they have already visited Chichen Itza, Valladolid and Mérida, among other attractions.

Tom and Lance also brought their little baby boy with them on their trip to Yucatàn, Mexico.
