Nicolás Maduro considered that Claudia Sheinbaum’s victory marks a “progressive left-wing direction” in Latin America
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, considered that the victory of Claudia Sheinbaum, who won the presidential elections in Mexico on Sunday, marks a “progressive left-wing direction” in Latin America, less than two months before the elections in which the Chavista leader will seek a third consecutive term.
“The victory of Mexico signals a progressive left-wing direction and the advancement of the forces that want the future of Latin America and the Caribbean. It is a great victory against the right,” said the president during his weekly television program.
He reiterated his congratulations to Sheinbaum, whom he called on to join the construction of a “powerful social, political and economic block,” as well as to offer people “an alternative to the right and neoliberalism.”
