Aerus announces new Air Taxi service from Cancun to Cozumel

The Aerus Air Taxi company announced a new route between Cancun and Cozumel, which will begin in May.

Cozumel will increase its connectivity with the presence of the airline Aerus, which will begin operations on May 13 between Cancun and the island with 12 daily flights, which will reinforce the increase in passenger arrivals to Cozumel.

At a press conference by the airline Aerus, it was announced that in terms of tourism, Quintana Roo received more than 33 million 667 thousand passengers in 2023, 21 million spent the night in the state and one million in Cozumel, which allowed an economic benefit of more than 900 million dollars last year on the island. In addition to registering an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

Swallow Island has 4,952 hotel rooms with an average annual occupancy, considering last year of more than 65%, exceeding the national average.

The economic impact also exceeded the previous year’s numbers with more than 75 million dollars in January alone, and with regard to air activity in January 2024, flight arrivals also grew from 60,000 to 77,000 passengers.

Javier Herrera García, general director of Aerus, reported that, in May 2022, the airline received the concession from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency to operate scheduled flights for 10 years.
