At noon on Monday, October 9, tropical storm “Max” made landfall in the municipality of Petatlan in the state of Guerrero. A situation that has undoubtedly brought climatic consequences in several areas of the demarcation since heavy rains and strong wind gusts have caused severe flooding and damage to property, belongings and cars of the inhabitants.

Through digital platforms such as X, media and social network users have spread a series of shocking images and videos in which you can see how the water caused by the rains has exceeded the levels of the sidewalks and avenues leaving severe damage in several areas of the state.

Which localities have been affected by storm “Max” in Guerrero?

After making landfall in Guerrero, tropical storm “Max” has generated the greatest number of damages in the municipality of Tecpan de Galeana. In this sense, in the towns of Nuxco, El Súchil and Tetitlán, the authorities have urged people to take precautionary measures and to remain attentive to Civil Protection communiqués.

In fact, it was in the community of Tetitlán where the overflowing of the Tecpan river was reported, while in the so-called Barrio de los Silleros, both neighbors and elements of Civil Protection have been working to recover vehicles that have been swept away by the water current.

However, one of the events that has caused the most impact on the Internet was the moment when a cab of the “Tecpan-Acapulco” route was swept away by the current of the streams coming from the mountainous areas. It is important to mention that the unit was not carrying passengers and that the inhabitants of the town of El Súchil helped the driver to rescue his means of transportation.

Where can people affected by the storm “Max” in Guerrero go?

After the multiple reports derived from the effects of tropical storm “Max”, the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, informed that two temporary shelters have been set up in the municipality of Tecpan de Galeana. Through her X account, the state governor explained that in case any person is in emergency situations, they can go to these sites that have a capacity of 10 families and are located at the following addresses:

  • Escuela Primaria Hermenegildo Galeana located at Calle Gneral. Ramos number 59 colonia Centro.
  • José María Morelos y Pavón School located at 3 San Bartolo St., Centro neighborhood.
