French multinational aircraft engine, rocket engine, aerospace-component, defense, and security company Safran has been operating in Mexico for over 20 years, primarily in the aerospace and security markets.
They are committed to work closely with customers across the Americas, diversifying production locations and winning new markets.
With almost 5,700 employees at ten production, maintenance and engineering facilities, Safran is Mexico’s largest employer in the aerospace industry.
In February 2016, Safran announced the construction of an eleventh production plant in the country, dedicated to composite parts for the LEAP® jet engine.
The new factory is being built in conjunction with U.S. partner Albany International, along the same lines as the two existing Safran/Albany plants, in Rochester, New Hampshire (USA), and Commercy (eastern France), which were inaugurated back in 2014.
But also on February this year, the French group opened its fifth plant in Mexico, specifically in the state of Querétaro, and confirmed an investment of 74 million US dollars for the construction of its sixth floor that will also be located in the same state.
This way, the aerospace company continues to expand their operation within Querétaro’s “Aerospace Park” , one of the most important industrial areas of the country, which is located in the municipality of Colón, providing at least 1,600 direct jobs.
The fifth plant in Querétaro is called “Sames Rep” that represents an investment of 40 million dollars, is the tenth Safran plant currently operating in Mexico.
