In the early hours of Thursday, November 2nd, the Municipal Police of Mérida reported a traffic accident that occurred in the first square of the city, in which a vehicle practically ended up inside the Yucatecan food restaurant, La Chaya Maya.

According to the report, an Audi SUV, driven by a person allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was traveling on 57th Street and, upon reaching the intersection with 62nd Street, collided with the right side of a Hyundai Gran i10 type car.

Due to the impact, the driver of the Hyundai lost control of the steering wheel, which caused the vehicle to be projected onto the sidewalk and against the glass door of the famous restaurant located precisely on the corner of Calle 57 and Calle 62.

The compact car ended up with the front inside the restaurant premises. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
