A personnel transport vehicle was engulfed in flames in the early hours of Thursday on 25th Street at the intersection of 14th and 16th Streets in Kinchil. The bus was carrying workers to a poultry plant in Umán.
According to gathered information, the incident began when smoke was noticed emanating from the front of the transport unit. The driver and passengers quickly abandoned the bus, which became engulfed in flames within minutes. The fire even spread to the thatched roof of a residence.
In response to the emergency, a call was made to 911, and fire and police units arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire.
Fortunately, only property damage has been reported, and it is expected that the bus’s insurer will cover the damages to the residence, the cables on the poles, and all that was affected by the fire, which was presumably caused by a short circuit in the electrical system.
