Together with relatives, they demonstrated in the Parque de La Madre, Downtown Mérida and demanded to see their children.

Merida, Yucatan, (December 28, 2021).- Leonor Rodríguez Izquierdo denounced that she is a victim of “parental kidnapping”, since the father of her children, a 16-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old boy, has not allowed her to see them for more than a year, despite having an order of a judge. She demands to be able to see her children and asks for help from the state authorities,

On Thursday, December 23, the mother, together with some of her relatives, demonstrated in the Parque de La Madre to ask the governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila Dosal to see and hug their children again, they also ask for a healthy and peaceful coexistence for love.

The protesters carried banners with the legends “I miss you cousin, Santy”, “Children do not get divorced”, “I miss my grandchildren”, “NO to parental kidnapping”, “Christmas is not the same without you”, among other phrases. They also placed Christmas balls on the maternity statue with the names of the abducted minors.

Rodríguez Izquierdo indicated that even though mothers are suffering from this problem, it simply does not seem to exist for the authorities.

“It cannot be possible that parental abduction is happening every day, and it is not even classified as a crime when it is a child’s right to live with his/her parents”, she said.

The woman explained that she has an order from a judge to see and live with her children every 15 days, however, she has not been allowed to see them since November 28, 2020. Apparently, the children have been taken away by their grandmother.

“This is not possible, it is a kidnapping, my children are manipulated, alienated, they do not want to see me according to their father,” she said.

“For me, it is as if they are dead because I cannot see them, not even on a video call,” added the mother.

“What this man does is a crime, he is in contempt because he has the permission of the judge,” she added.

In addition to taking her children away, they stripped her of her property, evicted her from her home, while she was away, she even filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

“Nothing happened… I’ve been fighting for one year with 23 days to see my children ”. “If there really is justice, I want to see my kids,” she stated.

“The father has temporary custody because “he took them from me”, but I have the right to see them and it is not being fulfilled”, the mother insisted.

Minerva Rodríguez, another mother, said that she has divorce litigation charged, the guard and custody were given to the father, he took them with him when they were still married. Although she can see them, the problem is that she does not seem to be able to live with her children every day.

She wants there to be no coexistence, as she stated, in fact, she has filed appeals to revoke the sentence that allows Minerva to see her children. Now you can only make video calls twice a week, and deliver the responsibility to the Yucatan Family Coexistence Center (CECOFAY), but this does not happen, as it assures that “they have put the minors in the head that the mother is the bad one.” “I have always looked after my children, I pay a pension and far from instilling in them that there is that harmony, respect for their mother, which is not happening,” she said.

If he wants to keep them, that’s fine, she admits, however, let him be able to see them and live together, as well as with his other relatives, his cousins, his uncles, who love him. “I am not fighting for custody, but I am fighting for a healthy and peaceful coexistence for love,” she said.
