The federal government recognizes a low incidence of crime in Yucatán

Yucatán is the first place with the lowest homicide rate at a national level.

Yucatán broke its own record and registered a rate of 163.74 crimes per 100 thousand inhabitants, the lowest in its history, which meant a decrease of -1.9%, going from 3,893 crimes in 2022 to 3,819 in 2023.

In last month’s crime incidence report, the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) announced that the state exceeded the crime incidence rate registered at the national level by 9 times less, which is 1,534.64 crimes, thus It remains the entity with the best safety indexes in the Mexican Republic.

In that sense, Yucatán obtained the first place with the lowest rate of intentional homicides with 1.33 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a rate that is more than 13 times lower than the national rate of 17.74 cases.

Also, Yucatán tops the list of entities in the country with the lowest rates of vehicle theft with 1.67 cases, which is significantly lower than the national rate of 66.48 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Likewise, the state was positioned in second place with the lowest rate of home burglary with 4.20 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, a record with the historical minimum in the entity and which is also below the national average of 38.66 cases.

Likewise, Yucatán was positioned in the first 4 places with the lowest number of cases of crimes such as extortion, robbery against a passerby with 2.19 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, which is also a historical minimum achievement and the sixth place with the lowest rate of femicides, registering 0.67 cases per 100 thousand women, below the national figure of 1.15 cases.
