Shark attack registered in the south of Quintana Roo

OTHÓN P. BLANCO, QUINTANA ROO (October 23rd, 2023).- A shark attack was registered in the Mayan Coast of Quintana Roo, in which a man who was fishing suffered the bite of one of these sharks causing injuries in both arms, which merited medical attention.

The man, 59 years old, had been attacked and suffered injuries in both extremities when he was fishing in the Cayo Centro area, located in the Banco Chinchorro Biosphere Reserve, in the south of Quintana Roo, when he was attacked by the shark.

Several people who were with him managed to pull him out of the water and called for medical support, arriving at the site elements of the Mexican Navy, aboard a Defender-type boat of the Naval Station of Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance (Ensar) of Chetumal, evacuated him and took him to a hospital, where he is recovering.
