We are working hard so that Mexico and Yucatán do well today and in the future, said Mauricio Vila Dosal, in the presence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Sunday, September 3rd.

“In Yucatan, we reiterate our willingness to continue working in coordination with the Federation, always promoting projects and seeking the same objectives, which is that our state and country do well”, said Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, leading along with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador the inauguration ceremony of the area called Chichén Viejo of the Chichén Itzá archaeological zone, which will be opened to the public in the following days.

During the delivery of the works for the Improvement of the World Heritage archaeological site, the Governor thanked the President for the advanced works of the Maya Train. Vila stated that all Yucatecans are convinced that it is one of the most important works in Southeast Mexico.

For this reason, Vila Dosal continued: “From the beginning, it has been supported by its administration as we are convinced of the benefits of having a fast and efficient means of transportation, which will help attract more tourists from Cancun and the Riviera Maya and, at the same time, Yucatecans will be able to move through the area.

In front of the imposing Castle, one of the seven Wonders of the Modern World, Vila pointed out that this project also allows the archaeological zones to receive important investments and to access discoveries throughout the work carried out in the southeast, which allows us to learn more about our past.

Before the Governors of Campeche, Layda Sansores San Román, and of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, Lopez Obrador affirmed that he is working together to carry out the works of the Maya Train, which is essential because it offers a comprehensive improvement plan to detonate the communities of the southeastern region of the country.

Moments before, the Governor and the President carried out a test run aboard the Maya Train from the Teya (Mérida) to the Chichén Itzá station, to later supervise the rescue works of Chichén Viejo from the archaeological zone, which will be ready in the next few days to open to the public.

Chichén Viejo is located to the south of the Chichén Itzá archaeological site and is connected to the center by white roads or “Sacbe” and placed between two large “Rejoyadas“. It is made up of about 25 buildings of various kinds which were inhabited by a part of the Maya civilization.
