Showers and heat expected for the weekend in the Peninsula

MÉRIDA, Yucatan, May 19, 2023. – This day, the interaction of low pressure channels will continue, one over the north, center and south of the country, and another over the Yucatan Peninsula and the Mexican Southeast, both in combination with the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, will cause very heavy showers in Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato and Queretaro, as well as showers and heavy showers in western, eastern, central and southeastern areas of the country, including the Yucatan Peninsula, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

In addition, a hot to very hot environment will continue in the Mexican Pacific coast, the southeast of the Mexican Republic and the Yucatan Peninsula, with temperatures above 40 °C in areas of Michoacán, Guerrero, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatan.

In the Yucatan Peninsula, a sky with scattered clouds is forecast in the morning, and medium cloudy in the afternoon with intervals of showers and thundershowers in the region. Warm in the morning and hot to very hot in the afternoon. East wind from 10 to 30 km/h with gusts up to 40 km/h in the region.
