Since the beginning of his administration, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal has promoted tools that contribute to the autonomy and empowerment of women entrepreneurs, such as MicroYuc Mujeres, a program that has financed the projects of 233 Yucatecan micro-entrepreneurs.

Committed to the development of this sector and their families, Vila Dosal’s government has granted support for more than 7.4 million pesos through this scheme, resources that the beneficiaries have invested in the purchase of supplies, machinery and equipment; in addition to remodeling and improving their establishments to generate higher profits.

Forty percent of this financing has been for the benefit of businesses located in different municipalities in the interior of the state, dedicated to the retail trade of groceries, household appliances, furniture, cleaning supplies, pet food, as well as beauty salons, advertising services, spas, hardware stores, hardware stores, tlapalerías, stationery stores and others.

Recently, the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet) granted financing of close to one million pesos to 27 beneficiaries, 63% of which are located in the interior of the state.

It is worth mentioning that this credit scheme was created with the purpose of promoting businesses run by women, or mostly integrated by them, without requirements and associative practices to the spouse or civil status of the person, so that the entrepreneurial capacity of women in full use of their freedoms is valued and exalted.

In this sense, the head of Sefoet, Ernesto Herrera Novelo, pointed out that these loans are part of an economic policy of inclusion and equality. “We have seen that the small and medium-sized companies that women promote already represent 30% of Yucatan’s economy, this is a very important participation that we have to continue promoting,” he said.

The official acknowledged that the micro-entrepreneurs who responsibly comply with the repayment of their loans are demonstrating the effectiveness of this program, which allows them to access amounts from 5 thousand to 50 thousand pesos, but if they achieve their first goals, they can later apply for another modality to reach up to 400 thousand pesos and, as the company grows and consolidates, they could enter other soft financial schemes operated by Sefoet.

Deyanire Salazar Aldana, Sefoet’s Director of Financing, emphasized that the beauty of this aspect of MicroYuc is that it trusts women and was created precisely so that Yucatecan women who have started a business have access to financing, with the possibility of reaching larger and larger amounts once their loan is paid off, thus promoting the growth of the companies.

Those interested in learning more about the program may contact the Financing Department of the agency at (999) 930 3730 ext. 24033 or 24111 from 8:00 to 15:00.
