After weeks in which the price of lemons was rising unstoppably to 45 pesos per kilo, this week it dropped to 29.90, which is 15 pesos less, which is good news for consumers.
In a tour of the Lucas de Gálvez market, it could be detected that the price of lemon dropped its price, which surprised sellers and consumers because since January the citrus fruit was only increasing and 15 days ago it reached 45, and it was predicted that by Easter it would be close to 80 pesos.
“A fortnight ago it was at 45 pesos and there was talk that it would continue to rise, the price drop, especially in this season is good for everyone, we as sellers have more profit, when we buy it expensive, although we increase it, the margin is very small,” said Mr. Pedro, a seller in the market.
On the other hand, consumers said that this is the lowest price for lemons because in other places they are around 50 pesos.
According to the last report of the Daily Price Monitoring of the Primary Sector as of April 5th, the price of lemon was 42.17 pesos, a day before it was 41.17 pesos and the week of March 27th to 31st it was at 36.73 pesos and it indicated that March and April were the months with less harvest in the year.
