CANCUN – A new brand of gas station has officially opened in Cancun. Running four pumps with eight dispensers, the new franchise called The Gas opened its service station at Plaza Las Americas on Nichupte Avenue in Cancun.
The new brand began drawing attention on Monday July 4 as motorists took note of the blue and yellow gas station, a striking difference from the dominant green, white and red Pemex colors.

Fuel prices at The Gas are the same as other prices around the city, however one obvious difference is the price display, which can be seen from a distance by passing motorists. As recorded by the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) in the Official Gazette, the new maximum prices for magna and premium gasoline are 13.40 and 14.37 pesos per liter respectively.
The new gas brand is the first of three under that franchise that will open in Cancun. As reported June 7 in The Yucatan Times, the first The Gas stations in Mexico opened in Merida and Campeche early last month.
