A group of residents of Nevada intends to build two monuments in honor to the Maya civilization in a cultural and commercial center that will be built in Northern Las Vegas.

The project is supported and promoted by councilman Isaac Barrón, born in the United States of Mexican parents, who visited Mérida to announce this initiative along with Alberto Bache Ceballos, also promoter and coordinator.

The two monuments were designed by Yucatecans.

Baron details that the cultural and commercial center, which has already begun its construction, will have 16 cinemas of the company Maya Cinemas, owned by Moctezuma Esparza, also a Mexican-American and defender of the rights of Hispanic migrants.

The construction site was vacant for years, but Moctezuma Esparza had the vision of rescuing the area to provide the most remote populations of the state of Nevada with access to the “seventh art”.

“Given the relationship with Alberto Bache, who has made cultural caravans in Nevada and other North American states, I thought about the project, and decided build these monuments as a tribute to Yucatan and its history”, Moctezuma Esparza said.

Georgina Salazar Solis, treasurer of the Yucatecan College of Architects, presented the designs, made by 333 Luxes, headed by Elías Cisneros Ávila, and it is still pending to decide if one or two monuments will be built.
