LOS ANGELES — The Mexican actor Diego Luna will be the lead actor of a new version of the film “Scarface”, which will be produced by Universal Studios, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
The filmmaker Antoine Fuqua was contemplated to direct this project; however, he had to reject the offer because he is working on the sequel to “The Equalizer.”
According to the portal, the problem came when the production team realized that some shooting dates for both films would coincide.

Universal is still planning to shoot “Scarface” for next spring, so it is in the search for a director, but already contemplates Luna in the protagonist role.
The Mexican actor, protagonist of the film “Star Wars: Rogue one”, will give life to a Latin gangster in Los Angeles; the film will show his rise and fall in the drug business. Earlier versions of the drama include the original film of 1932 starring James Cagney, and a 1983 remake with Al Pacino.
