March 16.- The 2023 Mexican Baseball League season is about to start and yesterday morning the rehabilitation of the “Kukulcán Álamo” Park in Mérida was announced, a team effort between the state and national governments.

“We are going to rehabilitate the ‘Kukulcán’, which is the Merida Baseball Stadium, which is already decaying, this is what the governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal, asked me to do,” said López Obrador, during his morning conference, acknowledging the management of the project by governor Mauricio Vila.

Kukulcán Park, home of the Leones de Yucatán, which has been the home stadium of the Leones de Yucatán since the 1982 season, was inaugurated on March 23 of that year and was named in honor of the god Kukulcán of Mayan mythology, which means “Feathered Serpent”.

The governor said that this joint effort contributes to the governor’s drive to transform sports in the state by strengthening its infrastructure, as more than 10 million pesos are being invested in the installation of LED lights in the stadium, in order to have a more modern and optimal site.
