Mérida, Yucatán, (January 6, 2022).- Mérida celebrates 480 years of its foundation, and as every year, the Mérida Fest is organized in the White City, the first international festival to be held throughout the country.

As in 2021, the hiring of Yucatecan talent is being privileged to stimulate the local creative economy, especially damaged by the pandemic and offer joy, art and hope to Meridians and visitors.

The 2022 festival has three modalities: virtual content, premieres in theaters and closed spaces with controlled capacity, and non-massive public events.

Massive public events according to the current state traffic light are authorized from January 24 and correspond to events of 20,000 people onwards. The Mérida Fest does not have any event or artist that concentrates that many attendees, so that will not be a problem.

The virtual events are developed from the personal spaces of the artists without public exhibition; the events in theaters have sanitary controls and controlled capacity. Public spaces have special protocols.

The programming of artists in public spaces features high quality artists, but not mass, attendance greater than 800 people is not expected. All spaces are sanitized and inside there is a controlled capacity with a healthy distance between chairs. Access is limited to people who have a ticket, which is obtained electronically by cell phone and without direct contact. The tickets are free and can be requested at Tusboletos.mx. Tickets lose validity 15 minutes before the event. That is, each and everyone must arrive in advance.

Every day we generate a traffic light of events on the Mérida es Cultura page on social media. Events that are already full according to the specified capacity will not admit more people. All these events can be seen live and direct on the social networks of the Directorate of Culture and the City Council of Mérida: www.merida.gob.mx, platform www.midvi.mx and Facebook Mérida es Cultura.

To in gastronomic events, confirmation of the complete COVID-19 vaccination scheme will be requested.

The MéridaFest 2022 takes a step forward in the economic reactivation and the use of public space for coexistence and art. It does so with total responsibility and prudence. We pray that individual responsibility also prevails and that we continue to take care of each other.
