The Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) and the Municipal Police of Mérida will work together in an operation during the day on March 8, in which, as in recent years, marches in favor of women’s rights are planned.
On behalf of the SSP, it reported that, according to the route that the people who participate in the march will take, elements will be available to protect the integrity of the people walking and the motorists that travel near the routes. Therefore, street closures are expected.
The Municipal Police of Mérida reported that “as the mayor has indicated,” a joint operation with the SSP will be carried out to protect the route and the space where the demonstrators travel.
“Ensure that everything happens in a peaceful and orderly manner, respecting the right to express oneself freely,” was reported.
Next Saturday, March 8, Mérida will host the 2025 Feminist March, which will begin at 5 p.m. from Mejorada Park and end at the Plaza Grande.
The March of Silence will go from 50th to 54th Street, all contingents will march in silence in an artistic intervention in defense of the territory and against gentrification in Yucatan. They will then take 60th Street to reach the Plaza Grande.
