Members of the Mexican Navy supported the rescue of a crew member of a small fishing vessel that had been sinking since the afternoon of Saturday, November 2.
Members of the Seventh Flotilla of Surface Units of Yucalpetén and the Naval Health Service of the Thirteenth Naval Zone of the Mexican Navy (Semar), supported the rescue of a crew member of a small fishing vessel (also), which had been sinking since the afternoon of Saturday, November 2, approximately 75 nautical miles (138.9 kilometers) northwest of Progreso, Yucatan.
This action was carried out after receiving an alert on Monday, November 4 from the owner of the fishing boat, who informed the Port Captaincy of Celestún, Yucatan, that his boat had mechanical failures, which is why he was unable to recover one of his crew members who was carrying out fishing activities.
For the above, the Port Captaincy of Celestún informed this Naval Command about the aforementioned castaway, ordering the departure of an Interceptor Patrol type boat, to safeguard human life at sea, managed to locate the crew member in question, who was rescued and embarked on the Patrol.
It should be noted that the Naval Health personnel provided medical attention at all times to the castaway, finding him stable and transferring him to the port of Yucalpetén.
