The Mexican Navy Secretariat, through the Mexican Navy, carried out a medical evacuation in waters near Progreso, Yucatán, responding to an emergency aboard the merchant ship “Arklow Spray.”

This swift action reflects the Navy’s commitment to maritime safety and human life.

The emergency was activated when a Filipino flag crew member suffered an accident during maneuvers on board, resulting in facial injuries. The Regional Captaincy of Puerto Progreso received the report and requested immediate support, triggering the evacuation operation.

In response, the personnel of the Naval Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) of Yucalpetén traveled in a Defender boat along with the Naval Health team. The priority was to protect human life at sea, acting quickly and coordinated.

Naval Health personnel assessed and stabilized the injured crew member at the scene of the incident, providing the necessary care during the transfer to the port of Yucalpetén. Upon arrival, the patient was met by an ambulance that transported him to a local hospital for specialized medical care.
