The driver of a public transport van is struggling between life and death after ending up trapped in a spectacular accident that occurred on the Mérida-Progreso federal highway.
The event took place on Monday, September 2nd, when the driver of the van, identified as Raúl “N”, 48 years old, was traveling on the aforementioned road and upon reaching kilometer 29, near the entrance to Progreso, apparently, he fell asleep and crashed into a truck that was traveling in the low-speed lane.
Due to the impact, the van driver ended up trapped inside the van.
Agents, firefighters and paramedics from the Secretariat of Public Security arrived at the site to rescue him from the twisted metal and give first aid to the injured, but due to the severity of the injuries he had to be transferred to a hospital.
The place was cordoned off by the police and the corresponding procedures were initiated to determine responsibilities.
