The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) would have activated the femicide protocol after residents of the south of Mérida found the body, presumably that of a woman, in the middle of a vacant lot.

The discovery was made in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 17, when a group of people entered a vacant lot located on 181st Street between 94 and 96 in the San Antonio Xluch III neighborhood.

Preliminary information indicates that the body was in a state of decomposition. Despite this, the remains belong to a female, according to the authorities.

For this reason, the ministerial authorities have activated the femicide protocol. At the same time, pertinent investigations are carried out to clarify the person’s death. The cause of death is unknown at this time. The police secured the area so that the Prosecutor’s Office personnel could process the place and remove the body.
