A vehicle covered in green flies mobilized several police units in the second square of Merida since it was presumed that there could be a corpse inside.

The events occurred in the afternoon of this Thursday, September 18th, when residents of 78th Street between 47th and 49th called the emergency number 9-1-1 to report “that they found a dead person” inside a parked car.

Car covered in “Green” flies

Agents of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), immediately mobilized to the place, where there was a gray Ford Fiesta compact car, very close to the corner of 49th Street, full of the flies colloquially known as “panteoneras” (graveyard flies).

The police officers began to search the vehicle, but they did not find any signs of a body inside.

There was no foul odor, nor were there traces of blood or anything that could indicate that there was a corpse.

In search of the vehicle’s owner
They then took note of the license plates, which were expired, and requested the C5i for the information necessary to locate the owner, to allow the car to be searched to rule out any situation that could constitute a crime.

The car was under the branches of a tree that was also full of these flies, so the agents believed that the plant was releasing some type of substance or residue that attracted the “panteonera flies.”
