By specifying that 60 percent of new car purchases in the state are through financing and 40 percent in cash, the president of the Peninsular Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA) Peninsular, Enrique Peniche Pasos, revealed that Merida is ranked as the fourth national city with an almost complete offer of available brands, currently more than 50 on the market.
He highlighted that the Yucatecan capital is only surpassed by major cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.
He said that growth has been notable in recent years; last year around 30 thousand units were launched on the market and, to date, a 17 percent increase in sales has been recorded, much higher than the national growth of 2 percent.
The AMDA president pointed out that the factors that contribute to this dynamism in the state’s automotive market include the state’s solid economic situation and a security environment that favors investment and purchasing.
“This diversity not only reflects the development of the sector but also the growing confidence in the economic stability and security environment that Yucatan offers,” he said.
Peniche Pasos concluded that the boom in the automotive market in Yucatan is a clear indicator of the state’s expansion and consolidation as a key hub for the industry, by demonstrating its ability to attract new brands and offer a wide range of options for consumers.
