The expansion of the Mayakán gas pipeline and the construction of the new Cuxtal II pipeline in Yucatán are projects that promise to transform the economy in the Peninsula, positioning itself as a center for industrial development in southeastern Mexico, said Ana Ludlow, vice president of Affairs Government and Sustainability of Engie México,

She said that the arrival of more natural gas will allow Yucatán to strengthen its competitiveness and attract new investments, generating employment and improving the conditions for economic growth.

The executive stated that these projects, which will double the gas transportation capacity to the state, are essential to cover the growing energy demand of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The expansion of the gas pipeline and the construction of the Cuxtal II pipeline ensure energy supply for Yucatán and allow the region to position itself as an industrial development hub in southeastern Mexico. This joint effort with the Government of Yucatán is crucial to meeting the growing demand for energy in the Peninsula, which will contribute to economic growth and job creation.

The impact of these works is not limited only to energy supply but represents a broader context of sustainability.

According to Ludlow, access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy is essential for industrialists and entrepreneurs in the region to maintain and expand their operations.

With the availability of natural gas, we reduce production costs and promote more sustainable practices within the industrial sector, aligning ourselves with global trends towards reducing the carbon footprint.

The Yucatán Peninsula, with this increase in energy capacity, not only ensures its supply for the present but prepares for a future where industrial development will be a relevant piece of economic growth.

We see how these conditions will allow Yucatán to compete on equal terms with other areas of the country, attracting investments previously unattainable due to limited energy infrastructure. Security in the natural gas supply will be decisive for consolidating the Yucatan Peninsula as a pole of industrial development, Ludlow added.
