Before the end of the current municipal administration, the Merida government will launch a gastronomic tour in the San Benito and Lucas de Gálvez markets, according to José Luis Martínez Semerena, director of Economic Development and Tourism of the municipality of Mérida.
The municipal official indicated that the purpose of this new tourist service is to attract more visitors, especially because one of the most requested points in the service sector, both by nationals and foreigners, is the Gastronomic Corridor of 47 and 60.
The gastronomic tour for the San Benito and Lucas de Gálvez markets is coming soon. We are already working on it, said the official, who explained that this new tour is an addition to the offer of tours that the city already has, an area that has grown because, at the beginning of this administration, there was only one in the Plaza Grande.
He noted that the tour of these markets is in a pilot phase. They hope before the current administration ends, the service will begin. It will be up to the next administration to continue this project.
He announced the tour could begin at the Lucas de Gálvez market, where there will be a tourist information module for those interested in delving into the city’s gastronomy. In addition, they are carrying out tests to launch a tour of the General Cemetery.
