The mayor of Telchac Puerto, Alfredo Marrufo Díaz, confirmed that this coastal city will have a sculpture of the Mayan god Chaac, which is already under construction.
The mayor said that the idea arose precisely because of the controversy unleashed by the sculpture of Poseidon in Progreso and the response to the passage of the storm “Beryl.”
The sculpture, he said, is under construction and will be made of fiberglass. In addition, they expect to present it to the public on August 18.
“It will be another attraction for the port, like those that we have placed in this administration, such as the giant grouper at the entrance to the pier, the dolphins and turtles on the dock, the flip-flop in the food area, among other things,” he explained.
The Chaac sculpture would not be in the sea but on the beach.
