The Micaela Mar y Leña restaurant in Mérida won the award for Best Gastronomy Service in the country at the MexBest 2024 Awards, which recognizes exponents of the gastronomic and hotel sector, valued by diners and travelers who enjoy the destinations of the Mexican Republic.

The qualifying jury included industry experts who analyzed 97 proposals from the country in this category and selected the representative from Yucatán for excellence in attention to detail and dedication to the customer experience.

The general director of Micaela Mar y Leña, Alberto Nacif, expressed his pride and excitement at receiving this award together with Chef Vidal Elías, co-founder of the restaurant, with whom he has managed to position it on the national gastronomic scene and accumulate important recognition in six years.

“This award reflects our daily commitment to quality. We are proud to represent Yucatán and continue raising the standard of hospitality and gastronomy in Mexico”, he commented.

He noted that the fourth edition of the MexBest by Who 2024 Awards was held on August 21 at the Conrad by Hilton hotel in Tulum, where hotels and restaurants in 30 categories received awards.

He added that on August 22, they also obtained the recognition of Best Contemporary Restaurant at the Lo Mejor de Yucatán awards for México Desconocido, a gala held by said magazine and the Government of the State of Yucatán through the Secretariat of Tourism Development.

Alberto Nacif added that his list of awards highlights the one obtained in January as the Best Restaurant of the Year, among the 250 that make up the Mexico Gastronomic Guide 2024; the Best Restaurant in Yucatán award by México Desconocido Magazine 2023 and the “José Inés Loredo” National Award for Restaurant Merit for Mexican Cuisine in 2022, to mention a few.

“These recognitions motivate us to continue innovating and staying at the forefront, always seeking to offer our diners a unique and memorable experience,” he added.

This month Micaela Mar y Leña was also a finalist in the Copa Jerez National Competition, aimed at chefs and sommeliers from Mexico, which seeks the country’s representatives to face seven other nations in the International Grand Final of the XI Copa Jerez, which will take place will be held in the spring of 2025, at the largest gastronomic congress around Sherry wine.
