A family from Hunucmá experienced a tragedy on the last day of vacation when the father drowned.
The Marrufo C. family went to the pilgrimage at sea of the image of the Christ of Sisal, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of their festivities.
Afterward, Mr. Pedro Pablo Marrufo M., 50 years old, went with their whole family to Punta Piedra, after consuming alcoholic beverages.
Suddenly the man jumped into the sea and the boat continued moving, while the man was carried away by the currents. His family began to watch as he drowned, precisely at that moment the engine turned off, but it was not possible to reach him.
The family could not believe what was happening as they saw their relative drown, without being able to help him.
It was the crew of another boat who passed by the place that managed to rescue the body, then transferred it to Puerto de Abrigo, where the paramedics determined that the man no longer had vital signs.
In the end, agents of the SSP and Municipal Police guarded the area while waiting for the FGE and Semefo for the corresponding proceedings.
