Justen Thomas, the new Consul General of the United States in Mérida, visited the facilities of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of Yucatán: where he was received by the head of the agency, Luis Felipe Saidén.
This Thursday, August 15, 2024, the public official toured the headquarters of the Control, Command, Communications, Computing, Coordination and Intelligence Center (C5i) to learn in detail how the security agency works in the peninsular entity.
Luis Felipe Saidén accompanied him every step of the way: in which he distinguished the video surveillance systems and license plate readers; in addition, he assimilated how the 911 emergency number and the anonymous reporting number: 089, operate in Yucatán.
In short, the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) highlighted the collaboration agreement he has maintained with the United States: in which the Canine Unit (K9) has been reinforced with specialized dogs to identify drugs, explosives, and weapons; such as veterinary units and personnel.
Although Justen Thomas began his work on Thursday, August 1, in previous days he was received by the Yucatecan state governor Mauricio Vila: in the Government Palace, and he held a welcome meeting with his entire work team.
