As part of the new style of governing that Cecilia Patrón wants to bring to her city council, the mayor-elect held a meeting with Joaquín Díaz Mena, governor-elect of Yucatán.
“My priority will always be that the people of Mérida do well and for that reason, I will build the bridges that are necessary so that the services and programs grow and are directed towards social justice,” she stressed.
During the meeting, Cecilia presented the main issues for her administration, among which there are coincidences with the agenda of the governor-elect and which are of special attention because they impact the daily lives of citizens.
One of the main concerns of the inhabitants of Mérida is the increase in vehicular traffic, so it is essential to propose a comprehensive strategy for mobility and road infrastructure, taking into account pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles, as well as public transport.
“In a rapidly growing city like Mérida, which has more than 600 thousand vehicles, the challenges are enormous but the sum of wills must be greater. Together, society and government, we will be able to address them,” she added.
To this end, she also announced that her administration will implement a broad and strategic plan for paving and patching within the city because the streets and their maintenance are an essential part of any planned road plan.
On the other hand, the elected mayor referred to the growth of the city and the importance of planning and organizing urban development with a metropolitan vision, to guarantee adequate coverage of public services and the quality of life of the inhabitants of Mérida and the surrounding municipalities.
Finally, Cecilia Patrón said that strategic and coordinated planning will be a hallmark of her administration, so she is fully prepared to generate communication channels with the State Government that contribute to the attention of the people of Mérida.
