Public Services workers began flattening the main streets of Holbox that were left in terrible conditions during the recent rains.
In a brief interview, Manuel Escamilla García, mayor of the island, said he trusts that the weather conditions are favorable so that the repaving work can be carried out without any problem, and that the work can last.
He pointed out that this repaving is carried out with the support of hoteliers, restaurateurs, among other tourism service providers who had expressed their concern about the poor urban image given by the poor condition of the streets.
Escamilla García commented that more than 50 percent of Holbox’s streets, which do not have asphalt, were practically full of mud.
“We hope that the rains will allow us to advance the work since more than 50 percent of the streets were practically destroyed by the heavy and constant rains that were recorded weeks ago,” he added.
Finally, he pointed out that tourists are little by little returning to the island to enjoy the paradisiacal beaches, as part of the summer vacations.
