A person who has symptoms of respiratory illness currently has a 30% probability that it is COVID-19, a condition that has seen an increase in cases in the state.

Dr. Manuel Baeza Bacab, specialist in clinical immunology and allergy, emphasizes that Covid will stay forever as has happened with other diseases. Although there are not many cases, he highlights, there is an increase in the epidemiological curve of positive cases, which has increased by a third.

He believes that this increase in cases had its origin in the mobilization that took place for the elections at the beginning of last June, which was accompanied by an increase in cases of respiratory infections.

He details that COVID-19 tests are almost no longer done, so there is no control to know if it is this or another respiratory illness.

The doctor indicates that to know how the State is doing, in this type of illness, the epidemiological report is available. Currently, you can review the data issued until last June, when this increase is precisely recorded.

These are cases, he reiterates, that began one or two weeks ago, so he reaffirms the theory that they are the result of the large mobilizations for the elections.

Respiratory illnesses in Yucatán; September would be a high-risk month.

The doctor considers that it will be in September when cases of respiratory diseases increase, due to climatic changes, the return to school of thousands of children and young people, from kindergarten to university.
