The Cancun International Airport has issued a statement regarding the cancellation or not of the flights that are scheduled for this week in which the arrival of Hurricane Beryl to the Mexican Caribbean is expected.

In a statement, the airport asks passengers to only show up at the terminals if they have a confirmed flight because the facilities are not certified as shelters for these meteorological phenomena and cannot be used as such.

Those who require specific information about their flights should contact the local numbers and/or the corresponding airline number or website and if they do not have a confirmed flight, avoid going to the airport terminals to prevent crowding and guarantee the safety. of all users.

Since March, the airport has activated the Early Warning Group to respond to hydrometeorological phenomena, following its Emergency Plan approved by the aeronautical authority. This group is made up of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Navigation Services in Mexican Airspace (SENEAM) and Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR), forming the airport’s Emergency Operational Committee together with authorities, airlines and other service providers.

With the proximity and power of Hurricane Beryl, located in Caribbean waters, the airport has implemented the necessary protocols and procedures to guarantee the safety of air operations and users.

Currently, due to the development of the phenomenon and its trajectory forecast, the airport is in “Alert 01, Uncertainty Phase.” This situation is consistent with the Green Alert – Approach Phase of the National Civil Protection System, indicating a moderate danger.

Finally, in coordination with federal, state, and municipal civil protection authorities, as well as the airport community, hard work is being done to guarantee the safety of air operations and all users.
