Authorities announce temporary closure of streets in Progreso

The government of the state of Yucatán confirmed that, as of Sunday, July 21, 2024, a series of streets will remain closed in the port of Progreso: following progress in the works of the Elevated Viaduct Bypass.

The announcement revealed that the measure will apply from 8:00 p.m. and will consist of the section of 80th Street: at its junction with 82nd; Therefore, it will temporarily enable double circulation in a certain sector of 78th Street to speed up traffic.

This alternative will be valid from 41st Street to Chicxulub Highway. But to get to this place, drivers will have to turn left on Calle 41, between Bodega Aurrera and the police booth, to reach Calle 78.

This series of changes along the Elevated Viaduct Bypass will allow those who leave the port to access the road to Chicxulub. Once at the roundabout, you will be able to enter the Progreso-Mérida highway.

The authorities warned that personnel from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) will carry out a joint operation with Transit agents to guide circulation; in addition to placing signs for drivers (and breathalyzer checkpoints).

The Progreso administration expressed that the project is going well, according to the stipulated deadlines; Hence, for now, they finished with the placement of columns and underground wiring in the vicinity. They will proceed with the cycle path and space for vehicles.
