The version circulates on social media that the Yucatecan architects Javier Muñoz Menéndez and Carlos Quesnel suffered an attempted kidnapping in Mexico City, where they went to take part in a project.
Those affected have not been located to corroborate the information. However, people close to the case confirm the facts.
According to the information widely disseminated on social media and instant messaging groups, Carlos Quesnel and Javier Muñoz Menéndez were invited to participate in the project of “a company from Puebla.” Those affected even had meetings via Zoom with those who would be their collaborators, which would have been part of a network of lies to attract them.
After a few sessions, both were invited to Mexico City to hold a face-to-face meeting with the supposed people in charge of the project, so they both traveled to the capital city.
However, upon arriving in Mexico City the situation became suspicious and dangerous. According to reports, the “Puebla company” hired a driver to pick them up at the capital’s airport and take them to the place where the work meeting would be held. However, they began to wander through strange areas, and that alerted the Yucatecan architects.
Fearing a kidnapping, both jumped from the vehicle in a dangerous maneuver that caused them injuries when they fell to the pavement, and in the case of Carlos Quesnel, he was seriously injured.
Architect Quesnel suffered a fractured skull due to the fall, and Javier Muñoz Menéndez suffered fractures in his ribs.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Quesnel required surgery at the ABC Hospital after which, as reported, he is now out of danger, as is the Muñoz Menéndez.
The versions of the kidnapping attempt have been accompanied by the following message allegedly written by the architect Muñoz Menéndez:
“Hello dear friends… I’m fine. Yesterday we lived a terrifying experience. An armed group tried to kidnap Carlos and me. We managed to escape by jumping from a moving car. I only have bruises and 4 broken ribs. Carlos Quesnel had a skull fracture and hemorrhage. He was very serious and on the verge of death. Yesterday he had surgery and the operation went well, although his condition is still serious. Please pray a lot for him. Thank you so much.”
