Thanks to the heavy rains, Yucatecan producers recover their crops

The president of the Association of Horticulturists of Yucatan, José Filomeno Tejero Poot, reported that with relief, producers are confident of recovering their crops as heavy rains begin to fall in the Central West of the State, after an intense drought of four and a half months.

He said that the rains were finally falling, and very intensely every day, the lands were so dry that they quickly absorbed the water that fell from the sky, and if the rainfall continued, the land would soon begin to produce fruits and vegetables to supply the local market.

He added that when there are more horticultural food harvests, the price will drop considerably because there will be plenty of produce to supply the entire State; that is what is important, that there is no end to the storm so that the lands are well moist and fresh.

Tejero Poot stressed that as long as there is no tropical storm that generates a lot of water and floods the land where the crops and fields are, the rainfall that is so needed by the entire Yucatecan countryside at this time will continue to fall.

Finally, Tejero Poot stressed that another benefit of the rainy season is that forest fires are controlled and extinguished in the municipalities of the interior of the State, which have been a problem because they have affected crop areas of various producers. The fire burned equipment and tools, but fortunately, the storm did not cause more disasters throughout the state.
