Animal cruelty does not stop in Yucatán, because on this occasion an image of a horse victim of abuse was shared on social media.
In the photograph, a horse is seen tied up under the sun and with temperatures of more than 104 degrees Fahrenheit outside a house, in Kanasín.
The representative of United Independent Rescuers, Elsa Arceo Medina, pointed out that animal cruelty is a desperate situation, which also affects horses and to which the authorities are indifferent since they allow the use of buggies and the holding of roping tournaments.
The animal rights activist warned that no candidate for election has implemented proposals to reduce cases of abuse in Yucatán.
“There must be a position from those who would be the next authorities, regarding the care of animals, to develop a strategy to address animal abuse,” he indicated.
He anticipated that they would deliver a letter to the candidates and collect signatures to ban horse-drawn carriages and roping tournaments.
