A man intentionally set fire to the landfill, which since Thursday night, June 6, was burning in flames and causing damage to nearby houses.

The fire completely consumed the garbage accumulated in the landfill. On June 7, only smoke remained from the waste that still burns at the bottom of the buried waste.

Employees of the place arrested the person responsible and handed him over to municipal agents, who took him to jail.

The arsonist is a drug addict who wanders around those areas and enters to steal from the properties of the occupied lands near the Industrial Park.

In another incident, a short circuit caused a fire in a hotel located on the side of the Motul-Telchac Pueblo highway, resulting in material damage, the day before yesterday, at 5 in the afternoon.

The fire originated in the hotel’s main house, where there is a palapa on the second floor, and quickly spread to surrounding areas with brush and flammable materials.

Firefighters and Civil Protection arrived at the scene, with several tanker vehicles trucks, and municipal police under the direction of Commander Pablo Pech, to control the fire.

Most of the hotel’s real estate was saved, although the material losses are estimated at several thousand pesos. No injuries were reported. The fire was completely controlled.
